Trinamul MP defiant in face of censure bid
BJP MPs are likely to give notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan
New Delhi: Trinamul MP Kalyan Banerjee faced heat in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, as the Centre threatened to bring a censure motion against his alleged objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the late Lal Bahadur Shastri.
While Mr Banerjee remained unfazed, BJP MPs are likely to give notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for a censure motion against him.
Trinamul MP maintained that anything spoken outside Parliament does not invite censure of the House. “I have not said anything wrong, then why should I apologise?
What does ‘janata bhejenge’ mean? That people’s verdict will send him to Gandhi Nagar. What is wrong in it? And ‘janata ka slap’ means verdict of the people,” Mr Banerjee said.
