Supreme Court extends stay on 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon's execution

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday further extended stay on the execution of Yakub Abdul Razak Memon, the lone death row convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
The apex court also issued notices to STF Maharashtra and CBI on Memon's plea seeking review of death penalty in the blasts case.
The court had also earlier this year twice put a stay on Memon's execution – on September 26 and June 2.
President Pranab Mukherjee had earlier rejected Yakub's mercy plea nearly ten days ago and his decision was conveyed to the Maharashtra government.
At least 257 people were killed in 13 blasts at several Mumbai landmarks, including the Bombay Stock Exchange, a popular cinema and two crowded markets.
