CM N Chandrababu Naidu: Adopt villages, build a smart Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu desires the “first category of people in society (important people or VIPs)” to adopt a village each and transform it into a smart village, thereby, helping in making Andhra Pradesh a smart state.
In tune with the Prime Minister’s call to build smart villages, Mr Naidu appealed to film actors, directors, producers, NRIs, corporate houses, ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs, ZPTCs, MPTCs, sarpanches and even mandal and village-level leaders to adopt a village each.
Adoption of villages has been made mandatory for IAS, IPS, IFS and other senior officers in AP.
“Senior officers, particularly of the AIS cadre, have to adopt one village each. They have to go to the village they adopt and ensure its development.
The planning department and Unicef will bring out the guidelines defining smart villages and what components need to be taken up to transform them into smart villages,” Mr Naidu said.
“There are 13 districts, 664 mandals, 111 municipal bodies, 12,950 gram panchayats and 16,250 villages, including wards and divisions. If these 16,250 villages can be adopted, the entire state can be transformed into “Smart Andhra Pradesh”,” Mr Naidu said.
Mr Naidu said this during a video conference with the collectors and other district-level officials on Tuesday to review the performance of Telugu Desam-government on its completion of six months in office. The CM also released a booklet on the TD’s rule over six months.
Later during the evening, the Chief Minister released a booklet on the successful 6-months TD rule in Andhra Pradesh.
Explaining the need for transforming villages into smart ones as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he asked the district authorities to ensure that each household, all public places, wards and individuals have proper toilets.
