Team 'pk' ties up with global tracking giant Rentrak to monitor box office collections
Mumbai: Aamir Khan shed light on one of Bollywood’s best kept secrets at a recent interaction with the media. The actor said that box office numbers are often inflated by marketing teams and actors. Bollywood stars and directors these days, are all striving to reach the 100 crore club, and many a times cross it by a huge margin.
However, do not expect Aamir to participate in such un-authentic practices. He said, “I think it's childish to inflate numbers. The industry anyways always knows the real figures. If it's being done for the audience, then in some time, the audience will get to know too, it doesn't help. I hope like in the USA, we have an authentic, transparent method of vetting box office numbers in India, I would welcome it."
In a bid to put an end to this mayhem, ‘pk’ producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra has invited global tracking giant Rentrak to record and document the collections of the highly anticipated Aamir Khan-starrer.
The box office collections of ‘pk’ will be systematically recorded, providing a day to day break up of the collections across the country. At a recent interaction with the media, Rajkumar Akella, Managing Director of Rentrak India stated, “We are very excited about this, and the whole team of Mr. Chopra, Disney and UTV is hoping that we achieve maximum coverage with this movie and we are currently making all efforts to accomplish the same.”
