Vijayawada: The efforts of the students’ organisations forced the police to arrest and send to remand the headmaster and teacher, who had sexually molested a minor student, leading to her death on October 17, following three abortions.
Police on Saturday night arrested the retired headmaster and the teacher. Sources said that the headmaster offered Rs 5 lakh to the family and police caught him on Saturday while he was giving the money.
Police said, M. Sivarama Prasad, who is now retired and English teacher Ch. Janardhan Prasad, sexually molested the 16-year-old girl studying in the school several times.
The duo also took the girl to various hospitals to get her pregnancy terminated, thrice. The frequent abortions let to health complications, and the girl died, police said.
However, the headmaster and the victim’s parents told everyone that she died of dengue fever and managed to keep the issue under wraps.
Avanigadda DSP Y. Srinivas Rao said the parents did not come forward to lodge a complaint fearing further damage to their two surviving girl children.
Complaints have been lodged against local TD MPTC’s husband Kamineni Sai for backing the English teacher.
