Rahul Gandhi to attend KPCC meeting
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi will attend the KPCC executive at Indira Bhavan at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Mr Rahul will arrive here on Tuesday to address the concluding rally of PCC chief V. M. Sudheeran’s month-long Janapaksha Yatra at Gandhi Park Grounds.
Senior Congress leaders A. K. Antony and Vayalar Ravi and AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala Mukul Wasnik will also attend the KPCC executive.
At a time when the government and the KPCC are at loggerheads on the liquor policy, Mr Rahul’s decision to address the KPCC executive is keenly being watched by the party workers.
Though Mr Rahul’s programme to stay back here was finalised on Thursday itself, it was officially confirmed only on Saturday. KPCC general secretary Thampanoor Ravi told DC that so far no special agenda had been decided by the KPCC coinciding with Mr Rahul’s addressing the KPCC leaders.
A top Congress source said that the state Youth Congress leaders had already sought appointment with Rahul’s office in New Delhi to bring to his notice the lack of opportunities for them ever since Mr Sudheeran became the PCC chief.
“Rahul will stay at Hotel Mascot after his address at the Gandhi Park Grounds. Only in the coming days, we will finalise whether any leaders will be allowed to hold one-to-one talks with Rahul,” said Mr Thampanoor Ravi.
Apart from the members of the KPCC executive, ministers, parliamentary party leaders, MPs, MLAs, DCC presidents, members of general bodies, ex-officio members, permanent representatives, special invitees, spokespersons and state presidents of feeder organisations and cells will also attend the session. Mr Sudheeran will preside over the function.
