Loan waiver scheme list misses deadline

Farmers will receive letters from the government from December 10

Hyderabad: Despite Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s promise, no list of farmers to benefit under phase-I of the crop loan waiver scheme was published till late on Saturday night.

On being asked about it, adviser (communications) to AP government Parakala Prabhakar said, “The list will be published tonight or in a day or two. What is more important is the disbursement of the money and it will be done from December 10 without a doubt.”

Though Mr Prabhakar could not give any further details, he exuded confidence saying, “The farmers will not be troubled by any banker for loan recovery. From December 10, the farmers will receive letters from the government clearly stating that their loan has been waived along with interests,” Mr Prabhakar said.

State Planning Board vice-chairman Kutumba Rao said, “We have forwarded the list of farmers to 6,500 banks and its branches. Since it was already 4.30 pm, the list of will be made public by December 9. We are not hiding anything.”
