Land specific package, compensation doubled
Hyderabad: The Cabinet sub-committee on land pooling for the capital city in consultation with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has finalised different packages for various categories of lands to be taken for building the capital.
For the land very near to Krishna river, it has fixed 1,100 sq. yards of residential plot, 200 sq. yards of commercial plot and an annual compensation of Rs 50,000 per year per acre for a period of 10 years.
For the land under the lift irrigation schemes, 1,100 sq. yards would be given for residential use and 100 sq. yards for commercial plot.
Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh government had announced a uniform package of 1,000 sq. yards and Rs 25,000 per annum per acre compensation to the owners of all categories of lands. With farmers owning river-front lands refusing to part with their land and demanding more compensation, the packages have been categorised as per its location.
Also, the AP government will waive off crop loans of all the farmers, who surrender their lands.
These revised and new packages were prepared based on the feedback from farmers the Cabinet sub-committee had met during their interactive meetings in the capital city area.
Mr Naidu was supposed to meet the farmers from the capital city area on Saturday, but due to the sudden demise of Harikrishna’s son in a road accident, the meet has been postponed to Monday.
