While Sadhvi Jyoti hails from MBC, BJP is strategically reaching out to dalits

New Delhi: Even while the Opposition continues to hold the Rajya Sabha hostage over the issue of Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the JD(U) and the BSP are getting jittery, with the BJP seeking to rally people behind her.
While Sadhvi Jyoti hails from most backward caste, the BJP is strategically reaching out to dalits to cut into the support base of the JD(U) in Bihar and the BSP in Uttar Pradesh.
Incidentally, sections within the JD(U) and the BSP feel that they have become part of the political gameplan of the Congress to lift the morale of party workers and the Trinamul to divert attention from Saradha scam.
“The BJP has sensed an opportunity in the issue to make inroads in the dalit and MBC vote base,” a BSP leader said.
