Police says Rumain Brisbon had gun in his pocket

Phoenix: A Phoenix police officer shot to death an unarmed black man, Rumain Brisbon, 34, during a struggle and authorities said the officer believed the individual had a gun, the Reuters said. On Thursday night, some 200 demonstrators protested against the Brisbon’s killing, marching to Phoenix police headquarters, broadcaster CBS5 reported.The Phoenix police said Brisbon was sitting in a SUV outside a convenience store on Tuesday, and two witnesses told the officer that its officer called for backup, and then saw Brisbon appear to remove something from the car’s back seat.


It said the officer, a seven-year veteran gave him several commands to show his hands, before Brisbon “placed one or both hands in his waistband area” and fled.The officer chased and caught up with him and gave the suspect several commands to get on the ground but he refused to comply, police said.At that point, both men stumbled into an opened apartment unit, it said, adding that the officer was unable to keep a grip on the suspect's hand.Fearing Brisbon had a gun in his pocket the officer fired two rounds striking Brisbon in the torso, it said.

Thousands of protesters clogged streets in New York and other major US cities for a second straight night Thursday to condemn police killings of young black suspects.
The US’ largest city of 8.4 million again saw bursts of outrage after a grand jury on Wednesday decided not to indict a white officer for the death by chokehold of an unarmed black Eric Garner.


As helicopters hovered above, thousands massed in New York’s Foley Square, near the city police headquarters shouting ‘Shut it down’ and carrying placards saying ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Racism Kills.’ We cannot tolerate police impunity.
