Telangana money making plan: Regularisation of land

In Hyderabad alone, a total of 34,000 applications were received

Hyderabad: Over 25,000 applications that were rejected for regularisation under the Land Regularisation Scheme in Hyderabad (in the undivided state) are all set to be reconsidered by the Telangana state government.

With no fresh buyers for government lands in the city due to the slowdown in the realty sector following bifurcation of the state, the TS government has decided to go for regularisation of encroached lands by collecting certain amounts to raise the funds.

The TS government is going to adopt a simple formula: Issue notices to encroachers asking them to regularise their land else the government will take back the same.

With many residential and commercial buildings already coming up on these lands, the owners of these buildings would be left with no option but to pay the amount.

The YSR government had issued GO 166 to regularise lands in 2006, which was in force in the undivided state. In Hyderabad alone, a total of 34,000 applications were received.

Highest number of applications had come from Shaikpet mandal at 10,000, followed by Khairatabad at 7,800 and Marredpally with 3,500.
