Kochi: The Kerala Circle of the Postal Department in its recent notification for new recruitment has a surprising disqualification clause that has stumped many. It says a “person who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse will be disqualified.”
A married person entering into another marriage without completing a legal divorce is already an offence.
“It’s a mandatory clause undertaken in writing by the new recruits post their selection. In the Kerala PSC too, we ask only the selected candidates to declare that so and so has not entered….. But the same is rarely included in prospectus or in notification,” said A.S. Ayoobkhan , Rules Under Secretary, Kerala PSC.In its notification (No MTS /OQ/14 dated November 25) for the ‘Direct Recruitment of Multi-Tasking Staff in Kerala Postal Circle, the disqualification clause has been included.
