The board has also sought the details on the turnover of their business

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Biodiversity Board has served notices on 2,300 establishments using biological resources for various commercial purposes, including drugs, food flavours, colours, extracts and fragrance, to report the details on the type and quantity of the biodiversity resources being used.

The board has also sought the details on the turnover of their business. According to Biological Diversity Act, 2002, all establishments should share 0.1 to 2.5 percent of their turnover with the State Biodiversity Boards to initiate conservation measures.

The Act also mandates the establishments to intimate the board about obtaining the biological resources for commercial utilisation.

Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB) member secretary K.P. Laladas told DC that the board was planning to raise biodiversity funds.
