Here come tailor made jobs for low Intelligence Quotient people
Higher IQ is not required for all types of jobs
VIJAYAWADA: It is a common practise everywhere that preference is given to those with higher Intelligence Quotient, while the fate of those with lower IQ is not as good.
To avoid any possible discrimination against people with lower IQ, countries like Germany and Japan have realised that higher IQ is not required for all types of jobs. They devised a concept, where jobs can be carried out by people with lower IQ.
The concept is based on the fact that posting an employee with higher IQ in a place which doesn’t need that much intelligence is as undesirable as giving responsibility of a task that demands sharp reflexes and high analytical powers to a person with lower IQ.
Companies in these countries segregate jobs and classify them depending on the IQ needed and recruitments are made accordingly. Efftronics, a leading electronics based in Vijayawada has also started implementing this.
Efftronics MD Dasari Ramakrishna said that segregation of jobs and work delegation is an excellent concept. He opined that it has been proved beyond doubt that the employees with lower IQ can also do exemplary work, if properly trained for specific tasks.
This concept gives scope for sharp and intelligent staff to be given responsibility of jobs that pose unforeseen challenges and demand creativity. Mr Ramakrishna said that this concept, apart from helping people with lower IQ get jobs and gain confidence, gives vast scope for employees with higher IQ to excel and also helps employers by putting brakes on the attrition rate of the employees.
