Chief Minister presents supplementary estimates for Rs1,751 crore
Chennai: Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam presented the second supplementary estimate for 2014-15 fiscal for a sum of Rs 1,751.18 crore on Thursday. The supplementary estimates are being presented mainly to obtain the approval of the legislature for the expenditure on ‘new service’ and ‘new instrument of service items’ sanctioned since the presentation of the first supplementary estimates in the Assembly on Aug. 12 this year.
He said the government had sanctioned financial assistance of Rs1,000 crore as ways and means advance in addition to other financial support to Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco) to meet its working capital requirements.
Also, administrative sanction has been accorded for Rs 247.75 crore for provision of facilities like classrooms, laboratories, toilets, drinking water facilities and compound walls to 210 government higher secondary schools with Nabard assistance. Apart from Rs 28.51 crore towards constructing buildings for new government polytechnic college at Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai district, about Rs 39.73 crore was sanctioned as ways and means advance to six state transport undertakings, among others.
