Screening, house visits for H5N1 continue in full swing

In Alappuzha more than 63,000 people were screened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health department squads visited 22,426 houses across the state on Thursday and screened 98,483 persons in connection with bird flu.

An official release here said that of the persons screened 449 had fever but none showed any suspected symptoms of H5N1.

While in Alappuzha more than 63,000 people were screened, health officials examined 26,761 in Kottayam and 2353 in Pathanamthitta.

Meanwhile, the authorities have decided to continue with the ban on transportation of poultry products to and from affected areas till these places are declared infection free.
