INS Kabra taps curiosity, spectators throng Kollam port
Kollam: Thousands of spectators including students lined up to make use of a chance they got to enter a Navy ship that offered them get an insight of technicalities and operations of the ship. INS Kabra docked at the Kollam port was open to the public on Thursday.
Navy officers escorted them explaining various facilities by which the ship has been equipped with to face any intruders like pirates or terrorists.
“The ship falls under the category of Fast Attack Craft (FAC) and has 35 crew members as of now. These are the fastest ships in India which is specifically used to combat pirates and to guard the coastal line of the country.
The ship also escorts huge vessels in international waters,” said Lt. Commandant Amith Kumar Bera. The ship is used for fast interception in case of emergency and can stay in the sea without refuelling for upto seven days.
