Andhra Pradesh: Crop loan waiver from December 10
Hyderabad: The first phase of the much delayed crop loan waiver scheme, a poll promise by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, will be finally implemented from December 10. In phase-I, crop loans below Rs 50,000 will be waived off completely.
However, crop loan waiver for DWCRA groups was not announced and Mr Naidu said it would be done shortly.
The first phase will cover farmers who have obtained loans below Rs 50,000 and those who have availed loans over Rs 50,000 with a total ceiling limit of Rs 1.50 lakh per family.
The first phase will cover 40.43 lakh accounts or 26.77 lakh individuals or 22.79 lakh families.
In the second phase, 42.23 lakh accounts would be verified before the eligible farmers are short-listed. The verification exercise will commence from December 9 to January 8.
The government will carry out Aadhaar and ration card linkage and weed out bogus and other multiple account holders between January 9 and January 14.
Phase-II of the crop loan waiver will be implemented from January 17 and be completed by January 22.
“In a single stroke, we are going to waive off the crop loans of farmers who had obtained loans up to Rs 50,000. It is a crop loan redemption scheme,” the CM said at a media conference at his residence on Thursday.
In case of farmers having availed loans of over Rs 50,000, the state government will deposit 20 per cent of the amount in their accounts as a first installment.
The remaining amount will be deposited in four installments over the next four years or earlier, depending on the state’s financial condition.
