TRS MPs ask PM Narendra Modi to fulfil all promises made to new Telangana state

New Delhi: The TRS MPs on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded implementation of all promises made to the new Telangana state during the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014, especially allotting officers to the state.

The TRS MPs, led by its floor leader A.P. Jithender Reddy, met Mr Modi and apprised him about the situation in the state where IAS officials are overworked because of non-allotment of officers due to the new state.

“We told the PM that the priority job for the Central Government is to allocate officers to Telangana. There is a situation where one IAS officer handles more than three departments and we said it is difficult to run a government in such a scenario,” Mr Reddy told this newspaper after the meeting.

He also said the TRS MPs asked the Prime Minister that all the promises made to the new state under the Act should be fulfilled. The MPs also brought to Mr Modi’s attention the promise of a separate High Court for the Andhra Pradesh state and the existing court that would function as Telangana High Court.

“We told the PM that AP should get its own High Court as early as possible so that the current one in Hyderabad serves exclusively for the new state of Telangana. The PM promised to look into all demands,” he said.

The MPs also said the Prime Minister told them that the Centre and state governments should work in tandem to ensure that the promises made to the people are fulfilled.
