Siddaramaiah meets Union ministers state MPs in Delhi, seeks additional coal, fertiliser
Bengaluru: It was hard bargaining for Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Wednesday as he lobbied with the BJP led Central government seeking more power for Karnataka.
According to reliable sources in Delhi, Mr Siddaramaiah who is also on a mission to get allocation of more funds for the state, hosted a dinner for state MPs on Tuesday in Delhi. The BJP had won 17 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka in the May elections,
The source said that Mr Siddaramaiah appealed to Union Minister for Power and Coal Mr Piyush Goel to augment the supply of coal for thermal power projects in the state. "With the state receiving less rain during this season, Karnataka will have to rely more on its thermal power production, therefore additional coal allocation is necessary to meet our power requirements. Besides this, he also requested the Centre to transfer additional power to the state through the central grid," the source disclosed.
Apart from this, Mr Siddaramaiah met chemicals and fertilisers minister, H. N. Ananth Kumar and demanded the allocation of more fertiliser to the state.
"We will need more fertiliser during the rabi crop season, which has not ended yet, therefore, the Chief Minister sought more fertiliser allocation for the state," the source added.
During the dinner Mr Siddaramaiah hosted for the MPs. he discussed the pending projects in Karnataka awaiting central asistance and approval.
