AP land pooling: Rayapudi farmers not to give land
Guntur: The farmers of Rayapudi and adjacent villages conducted a meeting on Wednesday night. Refusing to give their fertile lands for the new capital, they decided to meet the Cabinet sub-committee on land pooling.
The farmers’ meeting appointed a three-man committee to meet the Cabinet sub-committee and explain their difficulties in giving land for the capital construction.
Farmers’ leader M. Harindranath Chowdary said that neither the government nor the district administration invited them to meet the CM to explain their difficulties. He alleged that TD leaders are sending pro-TD farmers to the CM’s meet.
Meanwhile, the farmers, who are unwilling to give their land, got phone calls from the CM’s office on Wednesday. According to reports, dissident farmers of Nidamarru, Mandadam, Uddandarayunipalem, Venkatapalem and other villages got calls asking them to come to Hyderabad to join a meeting with the CM on Friday.
Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to be held on Thursday. K.Venkateswarlu of Mandadam said that they did not get any calls from the district administration or Hyderabad.
He said there is no use of sending the TD sympathisers to meet the CM.
