Fake sub inspector dupes three youths, looted lakhs from unemployed youths
Hyderabad: A man pretended to be a sub inspector and looted lakhs from unemployed youths offering them jobs in the police department. The fraudster’s girlfriend also pretended to be a police officer and talkes to the victims to convince them to give the money.
The crook B. Bharath Kumar, who was a bartender at the Country Club, even roamed around Hyderabad police commissionerate office in uniform and met the victims there to convince them.
The victim, R. Sridhar, who was working with Bharath at the Country Club, approached the police after he realised that he was cheated. Begumpet police have started an investigation. Bharath is absconding.
Bharath came to meet Sridhar six months after he quit his job. He was wearing a police uniform and said that he was working in Cyberabad police. “Bharath had quit his job around six months ago and had left the city.
Fifteen days ago he came to meet Sridhar wearing a police uniform and convinced him that he was an SI in Cyberabad. He promised to give him the job of a constable using his influence and took Rs 2 lakh from him. He also took money from two others promising the same thing, said a police officer. When the victims developed doubts Bharath asked them to meet him near the commissionerate.
When the victims went there Bharath was seen with a woman wearing a police dress in a car. The victims believed him and continued to wait. However, later, there was no response from Bharath.
Police said that Bharat has switched off his mobile phone and has gone absconding. “He was with his girlfriend who pretended to be a police officer. We have booked a case and are tracking them,” said inspector G. Baswa Reddy.
