3-year-old girl allegedly raped in Bengaluru school, accused lured the girl with chocolates

The incident came to light when the girl fell ill and refused to go to school.

Bengaluru: A three-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a 27-year-old man in a private school on Old Madras Road under Ramamurthynagar police station limits. The complaint was lodged on November 29, two days after the incident.

It came to light when the girl fell ill and refused to go to school. The victim told her mother about the sexual assault and also named the accused, who was identified as Nagaraj, a peon at the school. The police arrested him and sent him to judicial custody.

According to the complaint, Nagaraj had lured the girl with chocolates, took her to an empty classroom in the pre-nursery section after the morning prayers and sexually assaulted her.

The mother noticed that the child was not in her usual self after returning from school and questioned her. When the girl revealed the incident, the mother immediately took her to a hospital where the sexual assault was confirmed. She later filed a police complaint.

The victim’s mother said that the child had exhibited similar behaviour in October and suspected that the three-year-old was a victim of repeated sexual abuse.

The police, however, are still trying to establish the sequence of events. They have filed the cases against Nagaraj under Sections 5, 6, and 21 of the POCSO Act and section 376 of IPC. The police have also booked the school management.
