Sachin would participate in the event in the state capital
Thiruvananthapuram: Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and other celebrities will lead a mass run, supposed to be the biggest in the country, to be held here in January in connection with the National Games.
Titled ‘Run Kerala Run,’ the event will be held on a day between January 20 and 22. The date will be finalised depending upon the convenience of Mr. Tendulkar who is also the brand ambassador of the National Games to be held from January 31 to February 14.
Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that the mass run would take place in about 7,000 spots across the state between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The possibility of stopping all vehicles in the state during the mass run was being explored. Sachin would participate in the event in the state capital.
About 200 to 800-metre stretch will be identified at all spots and a name, preferably associated with sports or of significance to the locality, will be given to each spot.
A control room will be soon opened for registration of participants and coordination of the event.
