Naxals attacked CRPF personnel as patrol was routine
Hyderabad: A detailed report submitted to National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh has identified the mastermind of the incident as 2nd Battalion Commander Hidma, a top leader of the outlawed People’s Liberation Guerilla Army.
According to sources, the CRPF personnel were using the same route for 10 days and the Naxals took advantage of this.
Usually the information is shared by the Central Military Commission before an attack, but in this case, due to the ease of the operation, made so by the CRPF personnel, the Commander himself is suspected to have carried out the attack.
Most members of Central Military Commission of Naxals are from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Sources said that the report to the NSA stated that the Naxals were rattled by the surrender of nearly 450 cadres, particularly in Bastar region, in the last few weeks and wanted to hit back.
Despite serious reverses, the security forces managed to kill eight Naxals.
The intelligence report also mentions that after the attack, the Naxals managed to take away AK-47 rifles, magazines, a GPS, high-powered binoculars, Insas and LMG rifles of the security forces. The Naxals did not use explosives.
