Kerala High Court directive on 22 hotels not to be done in haste
The Minister said a verdict on government's appeal was expected within two months

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Excise Minister K Babu on Tuesday said the government would not implement the HC directive on granting licenses to 22 bar hotels in haste.
He told reporters that the court had given two months time to take a decision so there was no need for any hurry in the matter.
Mr Babu said the HC directive on Tuesday was only a continuation of its November verdict. The government had already gone in appeal against last verdict he said and added that the court's latest directive would also be challenged along with it.
The Minister said a verdict on government's appeal was expected within two months. “We will explore all legal options but it does not mean that we are defying the court order,” he added.
While admitting that the court directive had posed problems for the government, the Minister said the Single Bench order was not final. “We have the option of going in appeal before Division Bench and Supreme Court,” he added.
