Child Line sits tight on report

The police had sent a detailed report to the district Child Line officials

KOZHIKODE: The Child Line is sitting on a report from the Nadapuram police seeking its intervention to proceed against child molesters at Darul Huda English medium school at Parakadavu, where an LKG student was recently sexually abused by two inmates of the destitute home attached to the school.

But a Child Line official denied the police claim saying they had not got any such report so far.

The police, during evidence collection in the case, had found that there were several such abuses reported in the school, which were effectively suppressed by the management. The police had sent a detailed report to the district Child Line officials regarding this.

Sources told DC that till date none from Child Line has inspected the school for follow-up action. But Mr P.P. Sulaiman, Kozhikode district coordinator of Child Line, told Deccan Chronicle that they had not got any such report.

But police sources reiterated that the report had been sent to Child Line. “We have not got any such report. Had we got such a report, certainly action would have been taken,” Mr Sulaiman told DC.

A parent told Deccan Chronicle on condition of anonymity that she had seen some students taking a girl to the destitute home when she went to the school to give food to her child.

“When I reported the matter immediately to the school management, I was told to keep my mouth shut. I was told to take out my kid from the school if I have any issues or not to create an issue. I was scared and I did not utter a word to anyone else. I want to live here peacefully,” she said.
