CA institute backs PM Modi programmes
Kochi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has extended its support to three key programmes of the NDA government and said it would work for their success.
“We are supporting ‘Make In India’ campaign, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan,” ICAI president K Raghu said here on Tuesday.
“The Institute is organising 250 conferences across India supporting the ‘Make in India’ campaign. They aim at giving entrepreneurs an orientation on doing business in India, the process of setting up companies and on the applicable legal and taxation systems.
We are handholding them in the process.” He, however, denied the Institute, a statutory body set up by an Act of Parliament, is going political.
The Institute is restructuring the curriculum for the CA examination. “We have published the draft on the website seeking public opinion and will finalise it soon.” He said ‘the Reading
Room’ project of the Institute, which offers a study room open from 6 am to 10 pm for CA students, will be launched in Kochi also.
Indian accounting will move from cash accounting to accrual system of accounting, in which all assets and liabilities are also accounted, from 2016-17. The government has already introduced it in some sectors, he said.
