Guntur: The Guntur police has suspended one constable, Murali Krishna, on the allegations of molesting a girl student.
Murali Krishna was working as a constable in the Blue Colts and he along with home guard Srinu stopped a girl student on Monday night at Naaz center in Guntur.
The two Blue Colts policemen stopped the girl student and her male friend for checking purpose. They sent boy away and then Krishna took the girl at a secluded place in Potthurivaripeta near Naaz center and reportedly raped her.
Krishna had also threatened the girl not to divulge information about the incident to anyone, following which the frightened girl went to her hometown at Nandyal.
The incident came to light on Tuesday, however, the victim is still frightened to lodge an official complaint against the accused
Guntur urban SP, Rajesh Kumar, told Deccan Chronicle that additional SP, B Srinivasulu has been appointed to inquire into the allegations and said that the two accused policemen were placed under suspension. According to preliminary reports, Murali Krishna was the prime accused, who raped the girl and a home guard was witness to the crime.
He said that the police tried to get a complaint from the victim, and in case a complaint wasn’t registered by the victim, the police would lodge a suo motu complaint against the two accused polimen.
The SP also assured that stern actions would be taken against the accused.
