Hyderabad: Manda Bharadwaj, son of one Manda Jagannadam, and five others were arrested by the Malkajgiri police for assaulting a sub inspector and other police personnel on duty late on Monday night.
The police officials have not confirmed of Bharadwaj’s father is the same Manda Jagannadam who is a former Member of Parliament.
“We arrested him and his friends for assaulting policemen on duty late on Monday night,” said inspector G. Shekhar Goud. “We are verifying if he is the son of a former MP, as was claimed by Bharadwaj himself,” he added.
According to officials, Bharadwaj and his friends were drunk and were celebrating his birthday party at around 3 am. The argument started when the the night duty constables questioned them about staying out on the city roads so late at night.
Initially, a constable was abused and assaulted and later even the night duty sub-inspector, identified as Saidulu was assaulted. The cops arrested all six of them and remanded them to judicial custody.
