I was chosen for my eyes, says Fagun Thakrer
Actress Fagun Thakrer talks about her upcoming movie Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain
Mumbai: Indian-origin actress from UK, Fagun Thakrer, has an impressive track record for one so young. She has a Masters in Acting from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, one of the most prestigious acting schools in the UK.
She has also acted on the West End in London, performing several Shakes-pearean plays. Fagun is at the moment promoting her film, Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain, in which she plays a widow.
Says Fagun, “I think I was chosen for my eyes. My character Rekha says everything through her eyes. They tried out many other actors for the part and finally settled on me. ”
She adds, “I did it because I wanted to be a part of a film that addressed the great tragedy that struck Bhopal 30 years ago. I also got a chance to work with Martin Sheen. And then in my next international film, Basmati Blues, I had the honour of working with Donald Sutherland.”
Working with the two legends so early in her career was a learning experience. “It was like attending a masterclass. Martin would be on location in Hyderabad, where we shot the movie, even when he was not required. I’ve grown since the time I started shooting for the film. My character is supposed to be only 18. ”
Fagun has just completed another Hollywood film with another legendary actor. “Unfortunately I am not at liberty to speak about my role in my new film.”
