Membership Drive: BJP wants to overtake reds in China
It's aim is to overtake the Communist Party of China and become the largest political party
Mangaluru: BJP national general secretary, Muralidhar Rao declared on Monday that the party intended to make sure Karnataka which stood first in the country in its membership drive six years ago, retained the position.
“Dakshina Kannada had topped in the state. We want to retain these positions,” he told reporters adding, “Our aim is to overtake the Communist Party of China and become the largest political party in the world with maximum members. We are also working to strengthen our base in South and East India. We want to convert supporters into members.”
Mr Rao, who is in charge of his party’s affairs in Karnataka, said the membership drive would also be used to inform about the various programmes of the Union government like Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, and Jandhan.
As for the party’s efforts to change its image in the state, he said PM Narendra Modi set high moral standards for himself and partymen. “There cannot be two sets of moral standards, one for Delhi and another for Karnataka. Mr Modi personally reviews the standards every fortnight,” he added.
