My priority is to tap this NEZ: PM Modi

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the Northeastern states have the potential to become the gateway to South East Asian economy to India.
Inaugurating the Hornbill festival, he said, “There are SEZs in some parts. Here it is NEZ Natural Economic Zone. My priority is to tap this NEZ.”
Wearing the traditional headgear and dress of a Naga warrior, Mr Modi said, “A Rs 5,000 crore comprehensive telecom development plan for the Northeast has been envisaged.”
The railways ministry has proposed a Rs 28,000 crore railway project of 14 new rail lines.
Mr Modi also declared two scholarship schemes Ishan Uday and Ishan Vikash for the youth population apart from new colleges and varsity.
