Assam reacts angrily to PM Narendra Modi’s land swap deal
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have succeeded in winning the heart of the people in his two days long visit of Assam but his stand on the land swap deal with Bangladesh has triggered angry reaction across the state with some regional political parties threatening to agitate.
Among those who reacted angrily to the announcement of the Prime Minister to go ahead with land transfer agreement with Bangladesh includes the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Asom Jatiyabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSSS).
The AASU termed Indo-Bangla Land Transfer Agreement a betrayal. “It has surprised us that BJP which opposed the land transfer has taken a U-turn. We strongly oppose the announcement,” said AASU president.
