Andhra Pradesh government to launch 'Swachh Andhra' campaign
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government plans to launch the 'Swachh Andhra' campaign from the state secretariat on a mission mode, by involving secretaries of all departments.
Reviewing implementation of the Swachh Bharat campaign in the secretariat at the secretaries' conference on Tuesday, AP Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao said that as part of the campaign, the secretariat should be cleaned up by January 1, 2015.
He directed all secretaries to take up the 'Swachh Andhra' and 'Swachh Bharat' campaigns on a mission mode and also to designate a day in a week as 'Clean and Green Day' in government offices.
He said the MA&UD Department has been designated as the overall nodal agency and a consolidated government order would be issued soon to club solid and liquid management waste segregation, constructing public toilets and beautification of drains as part of the Swachh Andhra campaign.
Rao also viewed a power point presentation on the Grievances Redressal System (Meekosam) as devised by the ITE& C department at the conference and sought secretaries' suggestions for its implementation within the next fortnight.
The conference also reviewed all the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Secretaries were asked to follow it up with respective departments of the central government, especially with reference to waterways, connectivity to Visakhapatnam Port, petrochemical corridor including the cracker unit, establishment of an AIIMS, assistance for the new state capital as well as expansion of airports at Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.
