Udayamperoor is a role model for local bodies

The focus of the scheme is to ensure active participation of the public in rural development

KOCHI: Udayamperoor panchayat in Ernakulam district which has been recently selected for the ‘Adarsa Gramam’ (ideal village) project by P Rajeev MP has a good track record in implementing projects in waste management, drinking water and other basic sectors.

The panchayat authorities could successfully chalk out a sustainable development policy with the active participation of local residents on basis.

Under the ‘Adarsa Gramam’ as part of the 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' scheme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, each MP will take the responsibility of developing basic infrastructure in three villages by 2019.

The focus of the scheme is to ensure active participation of the public in rural development. The concept of this people-driven scheme is to utilize the knowledge and experience of villagers for the physical and institutional infrastructure development.
