Perambalur: Three persons, one of them a woman, were killed and eight others grievously injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with another car on the Tiruchy-Chennai national highway near Vepanthattai in Perambalur district on Sunday.
The police said the occupants of the car, hailing from Belukurichi, in Namakkal district, were returning home after offering worship to their family deity at Thambai village near Vepanthattai.
While Raja (40) and Kumaresan (35) were killed on the spot, Rajini Mala (35) succumbed to injuries on way to Annal Gandhi memorial government hospital in Tiruchy, the police added.
The injured were admitted to the Perambalur government hospital.
The Mangalamedu police registerd a case and are investigating.
