Students get due from Farhan Akhtar aide

The manager made a deal for Rs 20 lakh and confirmed the performance

Hyderabad: Over 30 students from an engineering college and members of the Telangana Joint Action Committee gathered outside a convention centre in Gachibowli, where filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar was to perform live.

The students shouted slogans demanding that his manager refund their money, paid for an event in March. Farhan Akhtar was slated to perform live at that event.

After a while, the manager met the students and said he would refund the money in a week. The manager had alerted the Gachibowli police, who reached the spot.

A student said that back in March, they had sent a request to Farhan to perform at the college fest.

“The manager made a deal for Rs 20 lakh and confirmed the performance. We paid an advance of Rs 10,50,000, booked flight tickets for his crew and made arrangements for his stay.

But, they insisted on complete payment two days before the show,” he said. The students could not collect the money, and the manager cancelled the show.

“Since, March we have been trying to get in touch but he never responded. In Sunday when we learnt that he was performing at Gachibowli, we went there to meet him. He agreed to repay the money in a week,” the student said.

“Farhan Akhtar was staying at Boulder Hills and his performance was scheduled for late evening. Students wanted to meet him but they spoke with the manager and dispersed,” said J. Ramesh, inspector, Gachibowli.
