Kochadaiyaan still haunting Rajinikanth's family, wife faces fraud charge
Chennai: After a not so good box office performance, the animation movie Kochadaiyaan is still haunting the family of Rajinikanth.
A complaint from Ad Bureau Advertising Pvt. Ltd, lodged with the central crime branch of the city police, says that the super star’s wife Latha and producer Dr J Mruali Manohar had cheated the firm to the tune of Rs 10 crore after entering an agreement with them to give the TN distribution rights of the movie.
According to the compla int, the Tamil Nadu lease rights of the film were sold to the agency by Dr J. Murali Manohar, director of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd and guaranteed by Latha Rajinikanth.
“However, the producer of the film along with the guarantor then illegally sold the rights to Eros International,” the complaint says.
The complainant, Abirchand Nihar also notes that the same company has purchased the distribution rights of Linga, Rajinikanth’s latest movie which is scheduled for release on December 12.
“While we have been patient in giving time to the borrowers for repayment of the dues, the intention of willfully defrauding us has now become evident.
The director of Kochadaiyaan, Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, has become CEO of Eros. The whole act has been cleverly orchestrated and indicates a white collar fraud owing to breach of contract and trust,” the complainant said.
