Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Saturday, flagged off the first train to Meghalaya bringing the state in rail map more than 60 years after independence.
Speaking on the ocassion the PM favoured privatisation of railways. “Railway facilities are the same as they were 100 years back.... Privatise the railway stations and modernise them. I will make it in 10-12 places,” he said adding, “I am taking special interest in the development of the Northeast.”
