Start-up village comes to Visakhapatanam
Kochi: Start-up Village, a Kochi-based private-public partnership initiative that runs a business incubator in Kochi, will launch its operations in Rishikonda in Visakhapatanam this week. “Our team will start functioning from Wednesday and we will have a formal launch by December 10,” Start-up Village chief executive officer Pranav Kumar Suresh told Deccan Chronicle on Saturday. The incubator has already received more than 50 applications for the 130-seater facility in which it can accommodate about 30 start-ups. “We are looking for young entrepreneurs with workable ideas for products in domains such as Internet, telecom, animation and creative work,” he said.
Start-up Village does not plan to screen applicants in the initial phase. “We shall try and give everyone some space at some point in time. They can come, work in their chosen field, interact with peers and discover what works and what does not,” he said. Start-up Village, essentially a plug-and-play facility, provides a system where young men and women inspire each other in a business-like environment. “We have listed a team of reputed industrialists as mentors for the companies,” Mr Suresh said. “The AP government has already announced a start-up and innovation policy and has allotted us space. This will help us,” he explained.
