No Land Bill this Session
The passing of the insurance Bill will send a strong signal
New Delhi: Well aware of stiff opposition from the Congress and the Trinamul to the proposed amendments, the Centre is understood to have decided not to bring the controversial land reforms Bill during the Winter Session of Parliament and instead to spend all its energy in getting through the insurance and GST Bills.
The Centre’s obsession with the insurance Bill could be part of a larger plan to send out a clear message to investors that India intends to open up several sectors for them, coinciding with the visit of Barack Obama to New Delhi. The passing of the insurance Bill will send a strong signal that the Narendra Modi dispensation is serious about reforms.
