Lucknow: In a shockingly bizarre incident, a snake charmer killed a snake after it bit him and then fried the reptile and ate it.
The incident took place in Sitapur district, early on Saturday morning when the snake bit Nanhu, 50, a snake charmer.
He had gone to a house in Kakaiyapara village where a snake had come out. He caught the snake but as soon as he loosened his grip, the snake turned around and bit him.
Even as he wreathed in pain, the angry snake charmer crushed the head of the snake on a stone and then roasted it in a bonfire and ate it.
A few hours later, the poison spread across his body and he died.
Uday Bhan, an old acquaintance of Nanhu later told reporters that Nanhu had often eaten snakes.
“He ate a snake for the first time in 1990 when he wanted to commit suicide but he survived and ever since, he has been eating snakes,” he said.
