Major fillip to Andhra Pradesh leather sector
Hyderabad: In a major boost to the leather products manufacturing sector, big players like Tata International Leather Products and Fashion Club Global have come forward to set up units in the state.
In all, 43 leather products manufacturers have queued up to set up units at the Krishnapatnam International Leather Complex in Nellore district. These companies will create 15,000 jobs and pump in investments up to Rs 2,000 crore.
Tata International is a supplier to global brands such as Marks and Spencer, Gabor, Mango, and others. Fashion Club Global, with a turnover of $25 million, exports to major retailers and wholesalers in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden among other countries.
The Krishnapatnam leather complex is an SPV incorporated by the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and Leather Industries Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (Lidcap).
KPILC is developing a 360-acre mega leather cluster near Kothapatnam in Nellore’s Kota mandal.
Sources in the industries department said that the environmental clearances had already been obtained from the Centre.
Grant Thornton India LLP has been appointed the project development management consultant.
