Bengaluru kiss of love on hold

There are plenty of people who were planning to join the campaign against moral policing

Bengaluru: Bengalureans, who were all set to participate in the “Kiss of Love” campaign on Sunday, will have to wait for some more time as the organisers, who met City Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi on Saturday, decided to postpone the event citing security issues.

Mr Vijayan Kallin, media coordinator for the event in Bengaluru, told Deccan Chronicle, “There are plenty of people who were planning to join the campaign against moral policing.

There will be a different dimension to the movement now with pro-women and a dozen of NGOs participating in it. We cannot risk the lives of people who have expressed solidarity with us.

We have submitted a fresh set of details to the police and discussed with them 19 issues, including security, legal rebuttals, etc.”

Asked when the rescheduled event would take place, Mr Kallin said, “We will decide on the venue and date later. It will be a collective decision now.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Sandeep Patil said that the organisers met the police on Saturday and discussed the event.

“They have submitted a fresh set of details to us. We will analyse the details and will keep them informed about the legalities involved.

The organisers told us that they will consult with NGOs and other groups before deciding on the mode of protest. They will come back to us.”
