App simplifies district youth festival
KOCHI: A mobile app is changing the colour of the Ernakulum district school youth festival, which will kick off at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tripunithura, on Monday, with competitions in different segments.
For the first time at the district level, at the youth festival in the State, the status of each stage where various events take place, including the badge number of a participant, the time left for a particular item to conclude, how many items remain on each stage, which sub-district is leading and what point other sub-districts have, etc. can be accessed on an app which has been developed by IT@School Ernakulam district.
Another important feature this year is while it took six to seven hours earlier to update info, this time it will be done in half an hour.
“Earlier every result of each item had to reach the programme committee office for being uploaded to the site and mobile app.
This time it will be done at the venues which will save a lot of time. The moment it is uploaded to the site, it automatically goes into the app also,” said an IT@School official.
While it was the practice to dump the app once the youth festival is over, this time the officials will keep it alive after that also.
“All notifications from the Deputy Director of Education, Ernakulum, will be available on the app even after the youth festival,” said the official adding that the application can be freely installed from Google play store by searching DD Ernakulum or kalolsavam.
There is a Google map on the programme venues and the phone numbers of different committee chairmen, related to the youth fest. Competitions in over 300 events will be held at the youth festival.
