Chennai: Incessant rains in Puducherry on Saturday resulted in the collapse of a 19th-century building that was under renovation.
Workers said that they saw cracks developing on the eastern facade of the building, which was constructed by the French rulers in 1857, and rushed out of the premises. All the offices of the municipality were shifted to other premises before the commencement of the renovation work.
