NH7 Weekender brings a musical Potpourri to Delhi

The musical extravaganza was held at Buddh International Circuit in Noida
Greater Noida: A myriad genres of music onoffer including metal, alternative rock, folk music on offer for Delhites; day one at the third edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender wrapped up on a musically high note with something to offer to all sensibilities.
With over 20 acts spread over five performing arenas, the winter air resounded with foot-tapping sounds, soulful
melodies and long queues of music lovers to have a bird's eye view from a giant ferris wheel which stands tall in the midst of all musical arenas. While opening acts like Delhi- based metal band 'Colossal Figures' at the Bacardi arena made fans head-bang to their tune, Rajasthani folk musicians from the 'Mangiyaar' tradition, 'Barmer Boys' had the crowds grooving at the
Dewarists stage.
Regaling the audience with their traditional Rajasthani instruments like the morchang, bhapaang, 'Barmer Boys' offered the audiences an interesting mix of Sufi Kalaam and Rajasthani folk beats interspersed with impromptu beat boxing. 'The Raghu Dixit Project featuring Nritarutya' was a power packed closing act, with the band belting out numbers from
their new album 'Jag Changa' accompanied by dancers from 'Nritarutya', an Indian contemporary dance company who were donning striking headgear with LED lights.
The funnymen from AIB had people in splits with their edgy humour taking on everyone from actor Salman Khan to the Prime Minister. Metal band 'Bhayanak Maut' pulled in audiences in large
numbers, so did electronica band, 'Dualist Enquiry Band' with
their exciting routine on the guitars.
Other popular acts included UK based song writer-singer Luke Sital-Singh who had the crowds swooning to his folk ballads and emotionally charged lyrics.
Adding a punch of newness to the festival, 'Songhoy Blues' a blues rock-band from Mali, South Africa put up an exciting show with a punch of desert Rhythm and Blues, a popular
african-american form of music. The NH7 Weekender however is not just limited to the music acts this time, there are numerous eye-catchy and pop art installations by Ayushman Mitra and Shilo Shiv Suleman at the
venue.
