Rashtriya Janata Dal, Samajwadi Party to unite in marriage
Lucknow: The political alliance may need some more time to materialise but the family alliance is all set to take place between the two most powerful Yadav leaders in the Hindi belt.
Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grandnephew and newly elected MP, Tej Pratap Yadav, will enter into a matrimonial alliance with Raj Lakshmi, the youngest daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The engagement is likely to take place in mid Dece mber and the wedding in February.
The marriage, already being touted as the ‘mother of all weddings/ will also consolidate the frie-ndship between the two Yadav leaders and could later lead to the much awaited coming together of the fragments of the erstwhile Janata Dal.
However, Tej Pratap Yadav on Friday insisted that his personal life and politics should not be linked. “This is a personal matter and it should not be linked to politics. I do what my elders advise me to do and I am going as per their wishes,” the 27 year old MP from Mainpuri said.
He however said that merging of erstwhile constituents of Janta Dal would be a positive step.
The marriage will also put an end to the bitter sweet relationship bet-ween the two party chiefs, that dates back to the 1990s when Lalu Yadav vetoed Mulayam Singh’s name for the PM’s post in the United Front government and opted for Inder Kumar Gujral.
