Forensic laboratory yet to get Andhra Pradesh funds
Hyderabad: The AP government has failed to pay its share of the annual Budget to the AP Forensic Science Laboratory, an organisation listed in Schedule X. While the Telangana State has paid its share, the AP government is yet to release the funds to the forensic lab.
A source in the police department said, “Despite repeated reminders from the AP police department to the finance department, there was no release of funds. The APFSL has kept several purchases and bills pending. Despite the pending fund, the forensic lab is taking up the cases of AP police too.
There is a serious fund crunch for purchase of DNA fingerprinting material.” The APFSL has asked both the governments for bifurcation of it so that it can function smoothly.
